As Christians we find our roots in the Bible, and when disaster or suffering hit we band together because of those roots. Everyone has had some bad thing happen to him or her, some kind of suffering. We go through our period of suffering and we emerge better than before it happened. Therefore, when we see other going through the same thing or something similar we want to help them. For example, American history is riddled with suffering, but when Americans see other nations and countries suffering, they want to help. Hurricanes, earthquakes, and tsunamis are just a few of the many things that take place and cause suffering during and after the actual event. Americans try to alleviate some of the pain through Red Cross and other humanitarian groups.
