There is nothing more powerful than love and in Erin Morgenstern’s fantasy novel, The Night Circus, this theme is exemplified. Love can overcome even the most powerful obstacles and barriers. Love has no boundaries, love will prevail all else, and love will save all. Morgenstern encompasses this by building powerful relationships between the characters to demonstrate mysteriousness and sacrifice. Celia sacrifices the match for love, for Marco. She gave up her relationship with her father to form a relationship with her opponent, Marco. Due to Celia’s sacrifice, the Circus of Dreams begins dying, but with the strong love between Marco and Celia, the circus comes alive. “As he kisses her, the bonfire glows brighter. The entire circus sparkles, dazzling every patron,” with every kiss or display of affection, the Circus of Dreams becomes more alive and mysterious. Marco was ready to sacrifice himself for Celia. “I couldn’t let you do it,” nevertheless, Celia prevents Marco from sacrificing himself, due to her undying love for him. Unknowingly, Celia prevents Marco from sacrificing himself, showing she was ready to sacrifice her own life for the love of the two.
