Why would change be such an incredible thing for a young girl who despises it so much? Sadie Kane changes throughout her experiences in The Red Pyramid. In the beginning, she appears as a complicated, bitter girl that also has the “punk rock” look. Sadie is sarcastic, rude, blunt, and just the typical “mean girl”. However, as Sadie starts to become closer with her brother, Carter, she learns compassion, bravery, and how to be affectionate. Although Sadie’s attitude in the beginning comes off as a selfish girl, she matures into a loving human being. If one knew Sadie at a younger age, they would say she was a little off putting. She expected everyone to waiting on her hand and foot. “Sadie pushed away from him and crossed her arms. “Oh, now it’s sweetheart, is it? You’re late. Visitation Day’s nearly over!.” (p.10) As shown is this quote, she gets mad over the simple things. Also, her intimidating attitude goes perfectly with her “queen bee” persona. “As I’m recording this, she’s standing right next to me, glaring, so I’d better be careful how I describe her.” (p.7) Although Sadie does have the sassy, she matures in an unexpected way. …show more content…

Her asperity strikes her brother, Carter, the most in the beginning of their journey. As Carter and Sadie continue their journey, Sadie starts to warm up to Carter. She shows her love through her actions more than her words. Simple things like when she dragged Carter away from Zia, his crush, so they could flee Luxor and be safe shows her personal concern for him. Not only did Sadie grow in love for Carter, she grew in her emotions,
