The Salem Witch Trials
The time the Salem witch trials were going on was a terrible, sad and scary time for people around the conflict. Just imagine innocent ill people being burned at the stake and hunted down for no other reason then being suspected as a witch. Messing up once in trial about how you aren't seeing things and the devil isn't making you do anything bad could get you killed. Even having any symptoms of being possessed could get you brutally murdered. Knowing all the bad that came out of the trials there are ways that you can see the good that came out of it. Salem was an extremely religious town, founded when there was conflict going on between the colonies in 1842. The people who made up the majority of the community were puritans. In 1692 a few girls fell ill and it was blamed on witchcraft. This illness was like no other. It made the girls scream and try to climb under chairs, tables, and even up walls. The girls would hallucinate and feel weird sensations of tingling and things crawling under their skin. After they both were examined witchcraft was determined to be the cause. This was because the doctors in the 1600-1800s were extremely uneducated and when symptoms didn't make sense they would blame it on witchcraft.
