Do you believe in witches, the Devil, or magic. Is there even such a thing as the Devil, magic and witches. In Salem, Massachusetts, this is what ruled the lives of the inhabitants. The belief in the Devil, magic and witches caused these people a lot of trouble. What caused the Salem Witch Trials Hysteria of 1692. A hysteria is an exaggerated or uncontrollable emotion or excitement, especially among a group of people. Notoriety is state of being famous or well known for some bad quality or deed. A numerous reasons exist of why the Salem Witch Trials was to be. The Depth of belief of these individuals could have been one. They took whatever was in the Bible and made it their law, their truths and their fears. The Bible speaks of the Devil and of Witches. The Devil had the power to enter a normal person’s body and turn that person into a witch. Once the Devil transforms that person into a witch, he or she could cause all kinds of trouble. “Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live” This quote was stated in King James version of the Bible under Exodus 22:18. This means that in order to prevent suffering from the hands of a witch, they all must be eradicated. Thats exactly what they did. In the examination of Bridget Bishop at Salem Village, the afflicted girls fell into fits at she came near them. As she shook her head, the afflicted girls were tortured and when she turned up her eyes, they also turn up their eyes. These girls were nothing but actors and notoriety seekers. They would act as if they were actually under possession of a witch. In Charles W.
