What would you do if you were able to follow your dreams all because of one person and what they did to help people just like her? Sally Ride was born May 26, 1951, worked at NASA for most of her life, once she retired she became a huge part of the community participating in organizations. is still a huge inspiration to lots of young ladies today. Sally Ride was the first American women in space and an important role model to young women today because she was the first American women in space, Sally was part of NASA, and was very active in/with the public.

Sally was a member of the President's Committee of Advisors on Science and Technology and the National Research Council's Space Studies Board, the Congressional Office of Technology Assessment, the Carnegie Institution of Washington, the NCAA Foundation, the Aerospace Corporation, and the California Institute of Technology. Sally was a member of the Pacific Council on International Policy, and a fellow of the American Physical Society. The company is focused on trying to encourage and interest students, more specifically girls about STEM (science technology engineering and math). The program still goes on today and is for middle schoolers (5th-8th grade). "I think it's really important for little girls growing up, and young women, to have role models in every walk of life.
