Thirty-seven year old Salvador Alvarenga, a fisherman living and working in Mexico, loved his 25-foot long canoe shaped boat. On November 18, 2012, he planned to be with it in the deep, tranquilizing waters of the Pacific Ocean. He had nothing holding him back, his daughter lived in El Salvador with her mother. Ezequiel Córdoba, Alvarenga’s 22-year old crewman, and Alvarenga loaded the boat with thousands of pounds of equipment that would soon be filled with a variety of seafood. Night Essay Prompt In the book Night, written by Elie Wiesel, he recalls his past experiences as a Jew during the Holocaust. Depending on the purpose of their work, writers utilize different rhetorical elements; Descriptive text often contains imagery to engage the reader's senses, expositions contain non-objective language to give a reader a generalization on a subject, while an argumentative piece often contains a mixture of ethical, logical, and emotional appeal to change the reader’s view on a particular subject. The writer, Frank Weyers, however, used a mixture of objective language, imagery, and chronological order in his book, Salvador Dali: Life and Work, to achieve a narration on the Spanish artist, Salvador Dali. Throughout the book, Weyers avoids the use euphemisms and any biased comments, utilizing only objective language. This is shown many times when the author describes death in Dali’s life. In one example the author simply states, “In 1982, Gala died” (Weyers 83).
The Salvador Dali Museum in Tampa, Florida is a conspicuous and coltish art museum. The prosaic orthogonal concrete box juxtaposed with the restive and flamboyant swarm of glass geodesic reflecting the scenic waterfront pronounces the existence of more than 2000 pieces of eminent art works just as dynamic and versatile as the whirling glass “Enigma”. The design of this museum by HOK, is meant to delineate the nature of the Spanish surrealist artist’s work, as well as his personality, and it certainly has served the purpose of syncretize the spirits of Salvador Dali with the “jewel box” which houses the best of his works. The building, ordinary but eccentric, symbolizes Dali in his epoch—a mischievous and irrational being in a reality of rough turmoil. Like a ribbon hanging

My all time favorite artist is Frida Kahlo. Not only was she an amazing artist but she was an intricate and articulate woman. She went through many hardships in her life and she expressed her emotion through her wonderfully surreal paintings. Like many successful artists, Frida had many skeletons in her closet and she wasn’t perfect in anyway.

In today’s society, it is quite common to hear expressions such as “there is an art to life’s distractions” or “there is an art to flying.” But is there really an “art” to art? When materialism and socialism started gaining popularity, art turned into something different. It was no longer as free as it had once seemed. Despite its restrictions, art remains what it always has been.

As for the technical part of his paintings, Dali based himself on mathematics and physics studies to represent figures in a more realistic way. He was influenced greatly by quantum mechanics and the study of perception and dimension that helped him find a balance between irrational ideas and realistic representation as seen in his series of paintings that are related to his religious beliefs; “Christ of saint john of the cross”, and “Crucifixion”.
