Once there were two brothers who lived on adjoining farms with peace and harmony. One day they fell into a conflict. After a while of silence, a passing person knocked on the older brother's door. He was a carpenter, looking for a job. The older brother said to him, “I have a job for you. Do you see the other side of the canal where my brother lives? He offended and burdened me, and we stopped talking. I want to prove to him that I am able to revenge him. Do you see, that wood near the house? I want you to build a high fence, because I do not want to see him again. He then went to town leaving the worker to operate. In 1 Samuel 13: 8-10 it is written, “He,” meaning Saul, “waited seven days, the time set by Samuel; but Samuel did not come to Gilgal, and Saul's men began to scatter from the impending battle. So he said, 'Bring me the burnt offerings and the fellowship offerings.'” Just as he finished making the offering Samuel arrived, and Saul went out to greet him. Samuel was grieved at Saul's disobedience. That was the first sin Saul committed as a king and that is how he started to drift away from God. Near the end of his life, he fell on hie sword and died. Saul started out well only to see his disobedient actions ruin what could have been a wonderful, God-honouring rule over the nation of Israel. How could somebody so close to God at the beginning start to spiral out of control and favour with God? How much different Saul's life would have turned out, had he obeyed these principles. King Saul would have had no shortage of wise council available to him. By ignoring God and his wise council, Saul allowed the spiritual health of his people to crumble further, separating them from
