Sammy Davis Jr. was born in Harlem, Manhattan his parents names were Elvera Davis and Sammy Davis Sr. His father was African American and his mother was part of the Puerto Rican ancestry. Sammy Jr. was the type of person who do everything from singing, dancing, play instruments, act, he could comedy every so often. A small part of the army made him realize how bad racism really was because some the soldiers had beaten him up just because of the fact he was african american in the 1950’s.
He had made a difference in the music community because he was a black jazz player. In Las Vegas he often performed there but he wasn’t allowed to stay in the hotels he played in. The had refused to take black customers.
