The thirst of exploring the field of engineering and science propelled me to get admitted to a graduate school and to me the MSME program of the University of Minnesota Duluth is an excellent choice because of its’ course structure and versatile research facilities. As a part of my long-term career goal, which is to complete PhD and engage myself in research-oriented activities, it is important for me to get a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and I strongly believe that I can become a valuable asset to my graduate school with my knowledge, challenge-encountering mentality, technical skills, leadership, collaborative personality and social values. Mechanics of Structure, Heat and mass transfer, Finite Element Method (FEM), Computational …show more content…
I learned that CFD is an important tool in analyzing heat transfer and I saved CFD for my future study and research. In eight semester, I was taught ‘Control Engineering’, which inspired me to participate in the RoboWar competition and I do possess a keen interest in exploring this field. The course offerings of UMD seems fascinating to me because it offers exactly those courses which I need to shape myself as a future researcher. First of all, ‘Advanced Thermal Fluid Science’ and ‘Advanced Mechanics of Materials’ would enable me in my knowledge in my primary area of interest. Then, electives courses like CFD and ‘Heat & Mass Transfer’ would give me a great chance to get acquainted with this field in detail. I would love to do active research and hence be thesis student (Plan A) but I am open to being a project student in case of availability of projects related to my area of …show more content…
My senior year thesis was to develop a program which could automate a huge iterative calculation process of ship design and me along with my partners developed the program by writing code in C++. Besides, I can do the mathematical operation in MATLAB. I am involved in an ongoing research, in which my duty is to do optimization process using MATLAB, under an Assistant Prof. of my Alma-Mater. In my undergrad school, I was actively involved with ‘Satyen-Bose Science Club’ and I was in charge of event and seminar management on behalf of the club. I also attended various science talks by distinguished scholars and researchers. I was also a member of our departmental students’ association and worked on the arrangement of departmental year festival in 2017. I was the convener of ‘NAME OLYMPIAD-2017’(Departmental quiz program) and as a part of the duty I moderated the questions, invigilated during the test, graded the scripts and prepared the result as per department heads’
