My desire to pursue a career in commercial law dates back to a full-time position at a citizens’ advice unit where I recognised that individuals need help in disentangling the complex world of legal procedures. I felt incredibly satisfied with applying my knowledge to aid entrepreneurs complete their business endeavours. My determination to become a solicitor grew stronger after having the opportunity to build strong relationships with clients at McMillan Williams Solicitors. Being particularly fond of renewable energy, I have promoted the nationwide “Switch-off” campaign by visiting University dorms and providing tips for reducing energy consumption. Moreover, having contemplated the complexity of mergers and acquisitions whilst participating in a Herbert Smith Freehills’ case study, I believe the firm’s promising goal to become a top 20 UK law firm will bring highly intriguing transactions. Furthermore, Bond Dickinson’s engagement with noteworthy real estate and regeneration projects, such as the Wood Warf project and its unique dedication to sustainability, demonstrated through its role of an ambassador for the Right Waste, Right Place campaign, meets my objective of contributing to the community. As Residence Life Mentor, I formed strong bonds with students in order to effectively monitor their welfare. A student shared her difficulty in befriending her peers, thus I explored her interests and accompanied her to carefully selected university events. She joined the Chocolate and Harry Potter Societies and perceived herself as better integrated into university life.
