The San Antonio Spurs are a well rounded group of cooperative individuals who work together to fulfil their job as basketball players on the same team. A team is all great and all but let’s focus on the Owner and General Manage for this paper. The owner Peter Holt is a very intelligent businessman who has lead the Spurs to accomplish many feats. There is also the general manager R.C. Buford who is also very important to the success of the team. Through his well thought out and proactive trades and drafts he decided which players would best fit in the team to play for the championships. Peter purchased the spurs in 1996 for 76 million dollars. Holt made the purchase because he wanted to keep the Spurs in San Antonio. Peter has owned the team for 20 years and is stepping down this year. During his time of ownership Peter has helped to win 4 championships. He has also had a successful campaign for a new arena and two new sports franchises based on the San Antonio Spurs. Along with his accomplishments Holt also likes to get involved with the community. Foster community pride, spurs youth basketball league, the annual county wide United Way campaign, and a selection of educational outreach programs. Buford has made many positive influences towards success of the team. One of the ways he did this was through his trading and picking players to join the team. A very influential trade that he made was in 2011, this was when he traded George Hill to the Pacers for Kawhi Leonard. Buford has had many notable picks in drafts. Leandro Barbosa, George Hill, James Anderson, these are only a few of the star players he has recruited for the team. Buford began running the Spurs in 2002, and since then they have won 4 championships. Buford has also been recognized when he won the NBA Executive of the Year award twice. His first time was in the 2013-2014 season. His second time winning this awards was in the 2015-2016 season. There are questions as to who could possibly fix the organization. I think that R.C. Buford is the man for the job. Through more careful considerations and more thought out plans I think he could do
