To begin with, my dad would always talk to me about his brief but memorable time at SCU. Then, while in fifth grade my teacher Mr. James McLeod would discuss how he attended the university and how enthralled he was by multiple aspects of the campus. As I progressed into high school, I learned that my principal Mr. Edward Velez had also attended the university. Additionally, my family friend Saumya Singhal is currently attending the university and continues to talk about how she loves the environment there. These instances led me to do my own research and discover what makes Santa Clara University special. After exploring SCU, I found that it met both my wants and needs. With its location, 20 minutes from family, in the heart of Silicon Valley with many opportunities for internships, a diverse campus and personal attention from incredible professors, what more could I want? …show more content…

The beauty of the campus and close-knit community I observed was so welcoming and made me feel very comfortable. When touring the campus, the small class sizes and the fact that I wasn’t just a number to a professor was a big plus. Learning more about Jesuit aspect of the university was most impressive to me as I really admire how SCU prepares students with its three pillars of: competence, conscience, and compassion and motivates them to make a difference. I could already tell that this was the place in which not only students but professors and faculty would wholeheartedly support and guide me in pursuing my aspirations.
