She created a character that broke the misogynistic views. Her novels skyrocketed earning her fame and causing her to become one of the best crime novelist in the world. Paretsky not only created a lasting female private investigator but also contributed to the societal movements in her time. Indemnity Only is the first introductory adventure of V.I Warshawski. Warshawski’s assignment is straightforward. She is hired by a man named John Thayer. All Warshawski needs to do is find his son’s missing girlfriend. Once Warshawski starts to investigate she find Thayer son’s dead body, at the same time Thayer disappears. She is then focused on finding her client and learning about his true identity while racing to find the missing women before the murders do (Smith). Bleeding Kansas is about how people have little control over events. The book is based on two families who have been farming in Kaw River Valley for 150 years. The book focuses on how war impacts lived from a religious and sexual standpoint. Lastly Paretsky’s memoir Writing in An Age of Silence. Paretsky looks at her life and work, by which they have been impacted by repression of free speech and though. She looks at the failure of the American dream.
