This paper will be about Sarah Goode. She invented the cabinet bed. This was a great invention for saving space for small rooms. Sarah Goode was a slave, and became free after the Civil War. She was born in 1850, and died in 1905. She owned a furniture store, which lead to her invention. The inventor of the Folding Cabinet Bed was Sarah Goode. She was born in 1850, as a slave and died as a free woman. She was African-American. She become free after the Civil War and moved to Chicago. She was born Sarah Jacobs and she married Archibald Goode, and she became Sarah Goode. When she moved to Chicago she and her husband owned a furniture store. There's not much on her education. The Folding Cabinet Bed was made for customers that complained they didn't have enough room. To fix this problem of little to no space for a bed she created the folding bed. Today it's called the Murphy bed. It's also known as the hide-a-way-bed. This bed she created when fold up could be used as a desk or shelf. Again her patent was in 1885. This invention was created in Chicago Illinois, in July 1885. This invention was Sarah Goode's first patent, and she was the first African-American to receive one. This invention makes more room. If a kid had a small room and needed room for a desk, then they could have both by having one of these beds created by Sarah Goode. The importance of this invention was to make more space where little to none could be found. There was no other invention created by Sarah Goode that led up to this invention.
