Disco was a major part of the 1970’s. A movie came out in 1977 that was all about disco and it was called Saturday Night Fever. The genre had a lot of songs and artists that people still dance to today. Disco also had a large influence on the fashions of the decade, too. Discos popularity was short-lived. In 1979 disco had lost its popularity. It lost its popularity because the public began to see disco's silliness and commercialization. When disco stopped being popular, it fell fast. Many radio stations held public events that were dedicated to getting rid of disco music in the world by album burnings. Younger people would rebel against the genre too. Berry was the lead singer slash front man for the Bee Gees. The Bee Gees helped define the era with their hit songs “Jive Talkin’” and “Stayin’ Alive”. There songs were disco and love songs. The band is known for their on-stage costumes, their catchy music, and suggestive lyrics.
