From the day we are born studies say we as newborns know how to float in water like it is an inborn trait. Inborn meaning it exists from birth; the trait comes naturally. We as humans have many inborn traits that are hidden and only come out at certain times. In the book “Lord of the flies” by William Golding he interprets that he sees no hope for mankind. Therefor Goldings major argument throughout the novel is that evil is an inborn trait of mankind.
Jack exemplifies Golding’s idea that all humans are capable of savagery. As for when the boys crash land on the island they come to a realization hunger is a problem they must fix ; therefore they proceed to go hunting. “ I cut the pig's throat” said jack, proudly and yet twitched as he said it. pg.69 This quote shows how quickly it is to lose …show more content…

As the boys are consumed with fear they believe they have killed the beast chanting “Kill the beast! Cut his throat! Spill his blood! Do him in!” pg.152 This quote shows how fear can drive you to do insane things out of the ordinary, but little did they know the “beast” they killed was a fellow friend that went by simon. Although as they soon realized the “beast” they killed was simon many had no remorse and some could not accept the fact they played a role on simon's death. Further on as the boys become two tribes piggy is murdered, as for when he dies the conch shatters losing any connection to civilizations. Now as Ralph remains alone the twins state “Roger sharpened a stick at both ends” This is a very shocking quote because it shows the loss of humanity from a young boy wanting to kill another human being. This quote also demonstrate the fear of competition showing us how fear can lead to people doing inexplicable things. As a result these quotes illustrate fear and the idea of the beast and how it drives the boys into savagery and how humans are capable of
