In the story, The Scarlet Letter, Pearl is a symbolism for numerous different contents. Pearl was a child of Hester Prynne and Arthur Dimmesdale. In the story, Pearl was known to be a mistake, but also a blessing to her mother. Pearl is a young but odd. In the story, Pearl made her own letter out of eelgrass. She is known to be a beautiful child. Pearl played a huge role in the story from the many different ways she was viewed and the many different ways this story could have turned out differently if she was not in it. Although Pearl was a constant reminder of Hester’s act of adultery. She was not meant to be as an actual character, but a symbol of Hester’s actions in the story. She was pure, beautiful, young, and was shown to be many different things. Pearl has a moody and is full of mischief. She has abilities that others don’t. For example, she detects what happened between her mother and Dimmesdale before anyone else had. When Dimmesdale passed, Pearl was only seven years old. Her substance is to induce the adult characters in the story. In conclusion, Pearl was a very unique character in this story. She had a main purpose and was very important in every aspect. Without the adultery between Hester and Dimmesdale, Pearl would not have ever been born and the story would not have ended or turned out the way it did in the end. Pearl had a big role.
