In the conclusion of the case study, 510 participate were diagnosed of schizophrenia. During the periodically follow ups , it was 21 percent of the participates that did not follow-up with the psychologists. In between the years of 1994-2008, it is 489 participates that follow-up. 389 participates were alive, 24 had killed themselves, 97 die of other causes, and 40 percent was homeless. Among 489 participates , 49 percent of the participates had displayed criminal behavior . It was about 8 percent of the 49 percent participates that were incarcerated. When comes to gender data, it was 11 percent of males and 8 percent that have criminal records due to schizophrenia . In recent case studies, it was discovered that most criminal offenders are diagnosed with mental illness. “The most common mental illness is schizophrenia. According to the article entitled,” Criminal Behavior among Persons with Schizophrenia in Rural China “ by Mao-Sheng Ran, Peng-Yu Chen, Zhi, Gang Liao, Ceecilia La-Wan Chan, Eric Yu-Hai Chen, Cui-Ping Tang, Wen –Jun Mao, J. Steven Lamberti, and Yeates Conwell, they stated that most of the mental illness individuals committed crimes. (Ran, Chen, Liao, Chan, Chen, Tang, Mao, Lamberti , & Conwell, 2011). The most common mental illness that criminal offenders are diagnosed with is schizophrenia. Schizophrenia individuals are not violent individuals. Most schizophrenia individuals committed violent crimes because they are abusing other substance among with their mental illness. Individuals with schizophrenia are violent toward their friends and family members. It is about 1000 individuals that are diagnosis with schizophrenia committed homicides.
