My past experiences have made me who I am today, not just a well rounded student, but a well rounded person. These experiences molded me to become most of all passionate. I am passionate in what I hope to become in the future, a computer programmer. I decided to take a computer science class when I saw how much my dad loved his career as a computer programmer. When I first began programming I despised it, because it was a foreign language that I couldn't wrap my mind around. This drove me wild while all my classes I had an easy grasp of and understood most of the concepts. I felt ostracized, but for some reason I stayed in class and proceeded to try and engrave the concepts in my mind. After many long, stressful hours spent with my dad in front of a computer screen I finally started to comprehend some of the topics. I continued to work harder and harder becoming used to successfully working through programs. This gave me so much confidence that I continued to work ahead of class and over the summer so immersed in the subject and thirsty to prove the boys wrong. I returned back this year better than ever at computer science and was soon seen as one of the most knowledgeable in the class. People would come to me first to ask me questions and homework help. This was the most rewarding, character building experience and has only made my passion for computer science grow farther. It still upsets me the lack of girls in these technology based classes, I would have felt much more comfortable if I had a girl there beside me. These classes would be excellent for young girls because later in life they would make a great career because the jobs have a sizeable salary and have flexible work hours and
