The first paper I read was the one titled School Bus Seatbelts by Michael Minuth. I chose this essay not necessarily because the topic peaked my interest, but I was curious to what he could say about the subject. I initially thought that Michael was going to detail how dangerous not having seatbelts are. However, when I got to his thesis which read “Not only are belt-less school buses the safest mode of transportation to and from school but equipping buses with seatbelts may prove to be more dangerous to the passengers” (Minuth, 2005). This assessment caught me off guard, which is what caught my attention. I liked how the paper was structured, because of this, the paper was easy to read. Since I'm a student myself, this topic caught my attention, for I too can recall asking myself the same question. I agree that costs are the biggest restraint when it comes to earning a college degree. Therefore, I believe this topic is relevant. The author uses practical statistics to support her claim, especially the ones comparing the unemployment rates. I thought Shivers interviewed people that had good connections to the topic, making them useful sources. I would like to focus on wind power, solar power, electric vehicles, and led lighting because these sources of energy are becoming more and more prevalent due to their eco-friendliness and cost reductions. What's remarkable is not just the speed at which these technologies have become cost competitive but how quickly they are being adopted. I would like to talk about the growth and impact these clean energy technologies have had on the environment the past decade since I firmly believe that these sources will be future sources of power generation. I plan on conducting research on two sustainable resources (wind and solar energy) and the two clean energy technologies (Electric vehicles and led lighting) this study will consist of statistics on the cost reductions and the rise in usage. I feel that there is a lot of information on this topic, which influenced my decision. My sources will consist of not only just the internet but trips to the library and five personal interviews. For the interviews, I plan on researching the top companies of these technologies and talking to a sales rep or someone adequate. The questions I plan on asking are questions that reveal climbs in sales, manufacturing increases, etc. I feel that asking these matters will back up my claim that these technologies are on a steady rise and will be the future. I may also conduct interviews with owners of green construction companies
