As the times continued to grow and we entered the 1990s the idea of school counseling started to shift towards being more aware of the child’s need in and out of the classroom. Sadly from the late 90s into the early 2000’s the world started to see a lot more hurt. These ranged anywhere from school shooting, a major increase in school bullying and probably the most know event, September 11th attacks. This is when school counselors really started to focus on the students outside of the classroom and making sure they were just as okay emotionally as they were educationally.
