Look back at what you ate at school and ask yourself if it is healthy. Is there healthy alternatives to school lunch? Is there a variety of choices to choose from? Are there any vegetarian choices for the students? These are just some of the basic questions you would ask yourself when thinking about the risks of school lunches. I strongly believe that the cafeteria menus should be changed in order to have a fair and much healthier lunch. There hasn't been a time in history where there was so many different people but now there is and it is time to make a difference. When I go to lunch I see chicken sandwiches on wheat bread with a side of fries or a slice of greasy pizza. The only real alternative is the "vegetarian" salad which is made of spinach, lettuce, cucumbers, a whole wheat bread stick, and a little container with a sliced meat. It is sad to see this as the only options to choose from. some people need lactose milk instead of regular milk or just don't drink milk at all. Unfortunately it is the cheapest option. If we had more freedom to buy better quality food things would become a lot better. Maybe expanding the vegetarian choices would bring more kids to actually want to eat happily. Who wants to eat the same boring salad everyday for lunch? Nobody. Having a more tasteful lunch would also make and school student happy. Chicken sandwiches could be served with Lettuce and tomato and a larger choice of condiments. Ketchup, mustard, barbecue sauce and mayo are not bad but maybe having honey mustard or sweet and sour sauce would give it more of a popping taste. Raising more school events and after school festivities would bring up the money intake giving us that freedom of a
