Have you ever seen a ghost? Hi nice to meet you. Like a ghost, I have been unloved my family and friends, unseen by competition and teachers,yet I exist. So what can I expect to earn from a science fair where it is expected that one must stand out and have a very valuable project to present, a superb question, a well set up experiment, and a great presentation for judges. I was told to complete such a project, and while I was expecting a project like me(unseen, unappreciated), I came out with second place school level and third place in behavioral sciences at the Prince George's county Area Science Fair. The topic for this project was delayed auditory feedback. I then approached the difficult part, the research and the experimentation. Like my presence, the research was scarce. However I managed to find information that related and allowed me to setup an experiment. Still to this day I find it strange how a ghost chose a ghost like project. When I presented this project to many people, they always asked one question. What is delayed auditory feedback? I was able to find a correlation between my subject’s races and their ability to read or recite under such circumstances. Similar races seemt to stay together on the graphs and charts. I expected to only make it as far as a participation grade in class, but instead I received a placement amongst the best of the best in our school. This experience truly changed me as I understood that my intellect was actually worth something and that I had a lot to contribute. It gave me a sense of motivation to keep trying and hope that one day, I am noticed even further. This not just being intellectually but also for my culture and my diversity.
