Scott Lee Peterson was born on October 24, 1972 in San Diego, California. He grew up in San Diego and graduated from San Diego High School. He then went on to spend a semester at Arizona State University, but then ended up moving back to San Diego to go to Cuesta College. He didn’t stay there long though before he decided to Transfer to California Polytechnic State University to major in Agricultural Business. While attending California Polytechnic State University he met Laci Pocha and they later lived together and married each other in 1997. They then opened “The Shack” that did not last long, so he began to work selling fertilizer and she became a substitute teacher. In 2002 she was classified as missing. He waited around 35 minutes to make sure no other people were around and then threw her off the side of his fishing boat at the Berkeley Marina. He had a handgun on him in the truck in case someone tried to stop him from committing the murder. It is said to be that his motive or the reason for killing her was that he was having an affair with Amber Frey. He had started planning her murder a little while after Laci found out she was pregnant in June of 2002. He killed her on Christmas Eve because he said killing her before would of raised too much suspicion. Scott Peterson stated “It was either her or me. So I decided that it should be her. At the time I couldn’t stand her anymore. I hated her by the time I killed her.” He felt trapped by knowing she was going to have a kid. They do not have much hard evidence or physical proof against him for this case. Some of the evidence they do have is a pair of plyers with a 6 inch strand of dark hair found on his boat, but they ruled that the plyers could have been brought from their house where her hair could have been picked up at also. The plyers were not used as hard evidence in the case. They also found a download on his computer for the San Francisco Bays that had data for the Bay’s currents. They narrowed that out also saying that it could be linked to a sport fishing web site.
