To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, is a really expressive book. It also really shows a lot about Harper Lee's childhood. To Kill A Mockingbird is about two little children named Jean Louise and Jem Finch they live in Maycomb with their dad and maid their mom died when Scout was really young. Their dad is a lawyer his name is Atticus Finch. Having your dad as a lawyer and him always on top of you, you would learn and most likely act older then most others of her age. Atticus's big job in this book is to defend a Negro man named Tom Robinson. He was defending him of supposedly raping a girl named Mayella Ewell. In this book Jean Louise also known as Scout comes of age a lot by being around good role models and being kind and willing to help. At the end of the book Scout is a young and mature lady even though she is only nine years old. The big lesson that Atticus teaches her is that you need to always think of something from the others point of view. When he was describing this he said to scout ¨You can't really know a person until you climb into their skin and walk around in it.¨ This quote represents a metaphor that means before you just go right to conclusion saying that you are right. You have to think about it in their point of view and in the end you could both be right. This shows that Scout is coming of age because learning this when you are young and using this concept is amazing for kids her age. It also makes you seem more mature and well mannered. So that is my first reason that shows the coming of age of Scout
