Did the author accomplish getting the theme of the story, a hero is one with a good heart across? And how? The author did accomplish getting the theme across. The author did this through many different characters. These characters were Scyld Scefing and Beowulf. They were shown to have a good heart though being kind, strong, and courageous. On pages 2 and 3, “Scyld grew up to be strong and brave, the terror of his enemies… Scyld Scefing was kind and wise, and his people loved him. This definitely showed that Scyld is all the characteristics of a good hearted person. For Beowulf, on page 19, “only a young man, but already he had won fame on account of his goodness and daring… Beowulf was the rare kind of person who makes strength of his weaknesses.”
