Secrets should not be kept from those who matter, as it can lead to unfortunate fate for both the keeper and the uninformed. Throughout Shakespeare’s play there was a desire for secrecy due to Romeo and Juliet's love being forbidden. This causes the couple to conceal their relationship, and impermissible marriage officiated by Friar Laurence, from their parents. Romeo and Juliet express their love for each other in secret and through messages delivered by the nurse in hopes to eventually be together. These secrets stayed untold to the Montagues and Capulets despite the fact that they are Romeo and Juliet’s parents. Not only did the nurse keep Romeo and Juliet’s forbidden love a secret, but she aided their blossoming love by delivering the messages in between the young lovers despite the fact that Romeo was a Montague, the enemy of the Capulets. “I will tell her, sir, that you do protest, which, as I take it,/ Is a gentlemanlike offer” (II.iv.153-154). The nurse is telling Romeo that she will inform Juliet of his plan to marry her in secret so they can be together without Juliet’s parents finding out, this leads to conflict later, as Juliet is being married off to Paris, but she is already married to Romeo, this situation causes her to fake her death, which Romeo thinks it’s real killing himself in his own grief. However this is not the only time the nurse helped with Romeo and Juliet’s relationship, after Romeo's banishment the nurse helps carry out the plan for Romeo and Juliet to meet once again “Hie to your chamber. I’ll find Romeo/ To comfort you” (III.ii.138-139). Friar Lawrence helps Romeo and Juliet throughout their relationship by not only agreeing to marry the couple, but also by assisting them in their plans to run away together, “assent her chamber, hence and comfort her… pass to Mantua,/ where thou shalt live” (III.iii.147-150). Friar Lawrence gives Juliet The potion that makes her seem dead, resulting in Romeo actually thinking she died and causing him to kill himself in grief. “Come, come with me, and we will make short work;/ For, by your leaves, you shall not stay alone/ Till Holy Church incorporate two in one”(II.vi.35-37). Friar Laurence helps to plot the many plans created so the young lovers could meet and be together all while keeping it out of sight from Romeo and Juliet‘s parents.
