Good afternoon everyone! Welcome and thank you for coming to the naming of the new secretary of education for the White House. As many of you know, Michelle Obama has recently won the 2020 presidential election and has put a lot of thought into deciding who will replace Betsy Devos as the new secretary of education. We are here today because we all care about the future of the education department and what actions will be taken to improve it. When Mrs. Obama was deciding who to trust with a task so important, a lot needed to be taken into consideration. Who can we put in this position who will fight for the fine arts departments to stay in schools? Who can we trust that has had years and years of experience in the education field? Who will use this position to bring people together to build ourselves back up and build bridges rather than walls …show more content…
She grew up in in a family of seven children, but since she was so much younger than her siblings, she almost felt like an only child by the age of seven. Rather than just laying back and enjoying the privileges of being an only child, she helped her family quite a bit and even took up a job at the local drugstore at a young age. To this day she even still helps take care of her siblings now when they need it and she helps host a family reunion every year called “Elnafest” dedicated to her mother. She also travels frequently with the organizations she is a part of and has visited South Africa, Germany, France, Croatia, and her favorite, Italy. She will be able to not only improve the education system of the United States based on our values, but she will understand that the United States is not the whole world and will help us improve based on their values as well. She has the abilities to gain insight from other areas of the world to see for herself what we need to improve
