In my current position I am involved in the planning, implementation, and maintaining of security programs that provide protection for the facility, information, equipment and personnel. I am accountable for conducting and implementing security surveys and security risk management fundamentals. Also, establishing and implementing strategic and operational policies within the organization and leading aspects of the Security function including: strategic planning, customer interface, management of Security Operations, and determining and pursuing courses of action necessary to obtain desired results. Further focusing on job enlargement and job enrichment. By focusing on job enlargement the job can have more impact on the day to day operations and focus more on the strategic aspect so the organization and less on the day to day activities perform by the employee. Essentially, this would create the opportunity to redesign some of the employee’s jobs into possible lead positions. With this change in design the employee would have more planning and control with a focus on little to no supervision and more of a self-evaluation mentality. Therefore, many of the tasks previously done by the supervisor will be done by the employee increasing the motivation and creating the path for development. By enlarging the job with more involvedness in the strategic areas of the business and more challenging tasks like leading the division more development into an executive leader can be created on my level and for the employee a creating a clear path for an individual to be able to strive for. However, these tasks need to be attainable in order to maintain interest and motivation. With the emphasize on job enrichment the impact from the day to day job can have more bearing on the decision making for the organization and more autonomy, leaving the person more satisfied and feeling more like they are making a difference. With the increase of autonomy and variety of task it creates those growth and development opportunities.
