Would you ever have supported segregation? In 1955 Rosa Parks made a choose that sparked a revolution against segregation. Soon people started to follow Rosa’s example which lead to the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Segregation was wrong because it limited the limits of education for african americans and it caused oppression for the african americans also.
Segregation limited the amount of education that african americans got in school. “Public schools for black children received less funding, less maintenance, and less teacher training,”(Source 1). Under those circumstances black children did not get as good of an education as white children. “The Jim Crow laws also led to the disenfranchisement of African American voters. States passed laws requiring literacy or history tests, background checks, proof of land ownership, or other complex processes just to register to vote,”(Source 1). Consequently most African American people did not get to vote because they did not get the right education to pass the tests. These were not the only oppressions african americans had to face. There was the Plessy vs. Ferguson Case that made it all the way to the Supreme Court even though all the courts sided against Plessy. “The Supreme Court sided with the state of Louisiana and convicted Plessy,”(Source 1). Plessy was convicted because he bought a train ticket for a white only train car. Just because he was african american he was arrested when he took one step into the train car.
