How do I respond when I get asked is family important to me? One thing I know for sure, is that no one on this Earth would be here if it wasn't for family. If family didn't exist then the world wouldn't cooperate like it should because no one would have any respect for anyone. Family means everything, and if it doesn´t then it should. Certain family members have been there for you countless times, either if it was a bad or good time, they have been there.
The location I chose for my inventory lab rotation is the Warm Springs Rehab Hospital in Kyle, TX. Warm springs rehab is a Hospital where patients are getting treated will and will be taken good care of and its also a place to feel comfortable such as a home. Which I spent two hours there. At the beginning, we were introduced to the Caroline Holt which is the dietitian of the Warm Springs Hospital, Caroline showed me and my partner the kitchen and she explained what they do on a daily bases, we also saw the dishwasher area which was very neat, then she showed us the cooking area which was next to the cooler, which is easier for them when they need to cook, which everything was organized and clean. In “A Raisin in the Sun“ by Lorraine Hansberry shows many examples about sexism in the 1950’s ,Beneatha and Walter represent many of the stereotypes shown of a female and male roles .Above all as times have progress will still see sexism for example the wage gap in sport between a female athlete and male athletes .
The Younger family in Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun faces many oppositions and conflicts, but Mama, the matriarch of the family, keeps them held together. She helps them work out their issues with her wisdom that she has received through her own trials and tribulations. She can best be described as puritanical, dignified and caring woman who would do anything for her family. Hansberry separates Mama from the family through her wisdom and values, but she uses her to tie the story together. Mama’s puritanical values are the basis for how she runs the family.
As known, this was a period of the civil rights movement. Many African American families, represented by the Younger family in the play, have suffered segregation due to the applied stereotypes against black people.
The violence resulted by racism lasted for remained in U.S. society for hundreds of years, it is only a matter of physical or mental violence. Black people during the history of U.S.A. face discrimination, ridicule, verbal abusement and even physical struggles from the White people.. During the time period after WWII, the conflicts between the black population and the white population rise to a higher level due to the introduction of redlining. Many newspapers, magazines, books and videos were based off on real events happening on black people due to redlining. The book “A Raisin in the Sun” wrote by Lorraine Hansberry was a prominent figure that reveal the life of black people to everyone in the society during this time period.
