There are many singers who have made history, one is Selena Quintanilla. Selena is known as a singer, songwriter, spokesperson, actress, and fashion designer. Many people loved Selena for her singing, she was very talented. Selena Quintanilla was born April 16th, 1971, in Lake Jackson, Texas. She was raised by both parents, Marcella Samora and Abraham Quintanilla. Her parents were always supporting her on what she wanted and what she did. Selena also has two other siblings, her brother Abraham Isaac Quintanilla or better known as A.B Quintanilla and her sister, Suzette Quintanilla. The family was always close and loved one another dearly.
In her early life, growing up, Selena spoke English, her father taught her to sing in Spanish as she got a little older. Her dad, Abraham Quintanilla formed a band with Selena and her siblings. She won both “Best Female Vocalist of the year” and “Performer of the year” at the 1987 Tejano Music Awards. Selena made it big in her singing career, her 1990 album was the first Tejano record to achieve gold record status. This status meant that it sold more than 500,000 copies. Many people loved Selena as well as her music, her recordings continued to sale strong. Being as popular as Selena was, she finally took a break from her tours and hectic schedule to marry Chris Perez. He was the lead guitarist of Selena Y Los Dinos and that’s how they met one another. Selena was always afraid of what her dad might think and surprised him and the whole band. Selena ended up running away to get married, her dad was upset of course and later learned to accept the marriage. Selena always dreamed of having kids one day after she married the one she loved, but could never get around to it because of her tours with the band and that was one thing she didn’t want to give
