Self Assessment: Top Five Strengths

Taking a self-assessment is never easy and is only beneficial when you are honest with yourself about where you are in certain areas of your life. In taking the self-assessment I had to take an in-depth look at myself in each of the areas identified, and that was not easy. I did learn, however, that I was stronger in some areas after thinking about it and taking a hard-look at each area. Also, it surprised me that I have changed and grown in certain areas and gained definite strength.
My weaknesses on the self-assessment were no big surprise to me since these are areas I have always seemed to struggle with. The top five weaknesses are: mathematics, goal setting, money management, energy level, and seeking support from others (Bethel University, …show more content…

2-3). Reading is one of my favorite things to do, so it did not come as any surprise that it is one of my strengths. Determination is one of the areas I have definitely grown in over the last two years. Without growing in this area I would not have remained shcool when my husband became ill. The ability to adapt to change and be flexible is another area I have grown in. In fact, if you had asked me to take the self-assessment ten years ago the outcome would have been the exact opposite. The ability to get along with diverse groups was not a surprise. My mother has always told me that was born friendly and getting along with anyone. Understanding technology has always been a strong point as I grew up in a home with a computer programmer/repairman who taught me to always be open to new technologies. This should strengthen both my mathematics and money management areas. I will set more attainable goals for myself, which should make them easier to reach and strengthen my goal-setting skills. In seeking support from others, I will lean on others to help me with tasks and for emotional support.
