Self Discovery In John Green's Novel 'Looking For Alaska'

When discovering who we are as people we need an endless amount of moments. Because of these different moments, people are exposed to friendship, grief, guilt and even denial is brought to hide humanity from the pain of reality. John Green’s novel, Looking for Alaska, he describes self discovery through, the protagonist Miles. Miles is a socially awkward guy with no social life. He buries himself in his reading of biographies and memorizing last words in order to escape the fact that he really doesn 't have any true friends. When deciding to attend Culver Creek Boarding School in Alabama for his junior year of high school, to seek his own Great Perhaps. He wants to figure out who he really is as a person and where his place is in the world.
