Come 3:30pm when school lets out, however, a school project is the last thing I wanted to spend my evening on.
Usually I sit and drink coffee for a solid ten minutes before I grab a pen or a laptop and start writing. I write usually for about an hour and a half and punch out something between seven hundred and twelve hundred words. I started writing around a year and a half ago. At the beginning of every class period I would quickly write down my findings from the passing period and the record all of my compiled data electronically at night. After a few days it seemed routine to record my observations, and my records became more clear as I started to understand what I was looking for. As I went on, I sometimes had to adjust my procedures a bit. For example, sometimes the crowds in the halls were just too dense to even attempt to go against the flow. For my mindful reflection journal this week I decided to work on my communication with my wife. My wife and I have been together for six year now. One of the things we do best is talking. Though we are great at talking, we have lost our way when it communications to positive communication. Not being able to process all of my thoughts at once, I wrote down what I could when the idea presented itself to me. When there was little to nothing on my mind that’s when I would edit and brainstorm, that was I wasn’t wasting away the precious time I had left. In being in my recovery stages there presented another difficulty later on in the night of focus and attention span to the tack at hand, using whatever methods I could, including various energy drink, Mountain Dew, and junk foods that I was able to scrounge up to stay awake and alert, dinner was non-existent that night. I had now reached around twenty pages of work in the late hours of the night ranging from ten to midnight; regularly being up at these hours my sleep wasn’t impossible to fend off. Yet even though I knew that sleep would overcome my brain eventually, there was an ongoing thought that if I didn’t have the paper complete I wouldn’t pass the class.

I think that I have started to get somewhat better at the structuring of my writing and using outlines before I jump into a draft. I am no longer as scared and hesitant to write, as I was the first writing project. I think a good goal that I accomplished from this project was using diverse sources in my writing. I was able to utilize a magazine post, newspaper article and research journals to form my argument and provide support.
