The origin of story of the Beast is what sets up the moral values of the tale. He is some one who has all the materialistic things he would ever needed. The Beauty of the Beast has control over his domain and no one will challenge him on his desires. He did not treat those around him with humanity & nature. They were nothing more than objects that can be treated / mistreated according to his whim. This is show symbolically when the enchanters shows up and he refuses to help her, it would not inconvenience him on any way to help. The Beasts had lost his humanity but found it again and knows he cannot control Belle`s without destroying her humanity. On the other hand Gaston is extoled as being the paragon of manliness but that belies his true beastly nature. In order to have the love of Belle Gaston tries to control her but that very act denies her humanity and prevents there being any love between them. The Beast displays the human traits of self-sacrifice and love and in response, Belle freely gives him her love allow the curse to be broken and complete his humans transformation. The story of Beauty and Beast is a story about a man rediscover his humanity. Belle of the story, demonstrates her moral & ethical character by maintaining her humanity even when everyone around her has lost. Story teaches that the part of us that makes us human are things cannot be control or forced they must be freely given.
