Selflessness in Magic Opportunities for random acts of kindness are everywhere, but do people actually let that change their selfishness? While many can debate on this topic for days, Rowling lets her actions speak louder than words. J.K. Rowling, most known for the Harry Potter series, has faced some of her darkest days within writing these stories. In this series the author told her life story through her main characters Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Throughout the books the reader is able to see how the characters change and develop as an asset to the story. While the characters fight for each other as friends, they are battling their own demons and literal monsters. The author is able to put her characters in her shoes and shows her personality in Harry and his friends when they face some of their toughest times. In Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, these friends test their selflessness by putting each other first. When Harry became obsessed with this book from the Half-Blood Prince, he still focuses on his friends. Battling his obsession, Harry helped Hermione through her low times with Ron. When Ron receives his first girlfriend, Hermione was nearly crushed. Although Harry was fighting his own demons and preparing for the final battle with Voldemort, he put this love and tragedy as a priority in his life. Joanne definitely intended her characters to partake in a part of her life. From losing her billionaire status after donating to charities, to reading an unfinished Harry Potter book to a sick, dying child, anyone can agree that Rowling is the epitome of being selfless (Sims, Andrew). This author is also able to show the caring personality through these friends when Harry and Ron make an unbreakable
