"The Melvin Cottrell Center for Senior citizens and the disabled" affected my decision to be a Social Work. I enjoyed working with the seniors and everyday was a new experience. The seniors enjoyed my company, and I would listen to old war stories, young love stories, and the love and admiration that grandparents have for their grandchild. I connected with the them, and I can remember playing bowling, board games, arts and craft, and shopping for decorations to celebrate holidays (e.g. Thanksgiving and Christmas). Christmas and Thanksgiving were special for the seniors' family and friends attended, and it brought a sense of unity and made the holidays more personal.
