When Jon Stewart talks to Congress in the statement to the House Judiciary Committee on the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund, he uses a mocking tone. At the beginning of the speech, Jon Stewart establishes he is upset with Congress about how they are acting towards the situation at hand. A bunch of 9/11 first responders came to the courtroom to fight for health care and benefits for 9/11 first responders, while only a few Congressmen showed up to speak with them. Jon Stewart states to the Congress, ”And you should be ashamed of yourselves for those that aren't here, but you won't be because accountability doesn't appear to be something that occurs in this chamber” (Stewart 0:56). In this statement, he mocks the credibility of Congress.
