Brooke Ricks Mrs.Mutina 8th English April 26, 2024. Serial Killers Serial killers are one of the things I've always been curious about. I have so many questions that I would love to be answered. This project gives me the ability to learn more about this subject and answer the questions I’ve had for a while. My first question about serial killers is what is the motive for killing someone? Serial killers often employ a “mask of sanity” to hide their true psychopathic tendencies and appear normal, even charming.” So a serial killer could be someone you walk by on a regular day. You could even have an interaction with them without even knowing the absolute horrors they have committed to others. You never know because they could be using that “mask of sanity” to hide what they truly are. “The legal definition of insanity is an inability to distinguish right from wrong and an inability to understand the consequences of an action. But serial killers are very aware of what they're doing. That's why they disguise themselves, hide evidence, and leave the scene of the crime,” says Vronsky. To know what you are doing and to know the consequences of your actions if you get caught but still try to hide what you’ve done is sick. I feel there is no sadness or even care, the only feeling they would feel is the fear of getting caught. “The average person walks past 36 murderers in their lifetime.” Even walking by someone like that is creepy and terrifying, you may never know, but they could be a good friend or someone you trust.
