A general research held by the FBI based on casual, informal interviews of opportunity with 36 convict serial killers. The questions were based on three categories:

They will target a specific victim and think about how they will attack before carrying it out. The killer controls the conversation with his victims.They may contact with their victims by presenting themselves in a non aggressive way. These serial killers approaches their victim by socializing, charming and know how to get their victim to trust them. Then plotting them in a position where he can overpower them. They choose a location where they can’t be disturbed. These killers often take personal item belonging from their victims as trophies.
Organized offenders torture their victims by restraining them prior to death. Organized rape offenders demands that the victim display submissive behavior and act fearful or passive. If their victim fights back the offenders aggressive behavior usually becomes violent. Sometimes it can be so much that the offender originally planned only to rape a victim which escalates his violence into murder when victim resists. They may also dismember the body parts. Victim’s body is transported and disposed at a different location from the crime scene. These killers revisits back to the crime scene to see what the police have done and what did they find
