Serial Podcast and Rabia Chaudry Reaction

Listening to the podcasts about Serial was actually very intriguing and shocking. There were many emotions that I felt throughout the podcast. At first, I was very skeptical of Adnan I really thought he committed the crime because of the way all the information was framed, and how emotional and defensive he got in one of the interviews. However after reading Rabia’s book chapter and Skyping with her I got a better idea and she really changed my point of view. The whole case is very confusing and there are many questions to be asked. For example, if Adnan is guilty or not? Listening to the earlier podcasts you could be a little bit impartial maybe even think he was guilty. However later on when we really …show more content…

Being the public advocate for Adnan is not the easiest thing at first I would assume and I could very much understand the judgment, racial comments and derogatory behaviors that she receives and has to deal with on the daily. As she said her main goal is to prove that Adnan is innocent and should not be sentenced to death. That one day he will get a chance to go back to court and one day see his family again. However, most of the time it’s really media portraying them in that light and unconsciously within that race separation happens. To the contrary, I believe those are the times where a community should support each other. In the case of Adnan, Rabia contacting him and telling him that she fully believes him and in his innocence is exactly the kind of reaction people should be having. I really admire that because it’s not easy going against the world but even your own community. She was able to see past the media’s portrayal, and
