Dr Tatiana's Sex Advice to All Creation written by Olivia Judson is like a dirty little “tell-all” about the sex lives of anthropomorphised animals. The animals “write in” to Dr. Tatiana as ask for advice on their sex lives, as if it were a advice column on Cosmo. From talking to microscopic organisms to blue whales, 'Dr. Tatiana' gives biological background on her subjects with humor and then dishes out the advice in the same style. On the contrary, you will learn that sex among animals is not always brutal and violent but for some is quite romantic. Some creatures entice each other with food and gifts. Perhaps my favorite is the spider who carefully wraps up food so that his mate will not kill him during sex because they are too busy unwrapping the food to notice. The book seems to be written for the average person, meaning not exclusively for Biologist or exclusively for gossip magazine enthusiasts. The content to me was always broken down in a such a way that was very easy to understand and explained in a way that the every day person could relate to and find humorous. I also enjoyed that she put the scientific name of each species for people who appreciate that, for example, she referred to a toad as a Alytes muletensis, but also still called it a toad for the ones of us that do not know. At times the writing became a bit wordy or repetitive, but never enough to skip the section I was reading in. Although the title of the book is “Sex Advice To All Creation”, it primarily focused on bugs, insects, and the occasional
