Unfortunately, there is a strong connection between sex trafficking and poverty, which has been observed in many parts of the world. Poverty and economic insecurity make people more susceptible to trafficking and exploitation, as they may be willing to take risks or accept dangerous work conditions in order to earn a living. People living in poverty often have limited access to education, healthcare, and basic resources, which can make them vulnerable to traffickers. One way that imperialism contributes to sex trafficking is through the exploitation of natural resources and labor. Many imperialist powers have extracted resources from developing countries, often through violent means, which has left these countries with limited economic opportunities and lots of poverty. This economic insecurity can make the people in these towns more susceptible to trafficking, as they may be willing to take risks or accept dangerous work conditions in order to earn a living. The legacy of imperialism has led to power imbalances between different countries and regions. This could include some traffickers having AK-47s while other civilians don’t have houses. Traffickers often target individuals from developing countries, knowing that they are less likely to have access to resources and support systems that can protect them from exploitation.
