Sex trafficking is defined as “When an adult (including persons under the age of 18) is coerced, forced, or deceived into prostitution or maintained in prostitution through coercion” (Skaine 254). Not only is sex trafficking being forced into prostitution, it is being kidnapped, taken from family, and sold to unknown individuals. Unfortunately, many people fall into the traps of sex trafficking rings too often and are never found again. Law enforcement and government officials are well aware of the issue and yet many innocent people are being taken and forced into the horrendous life of prostitution.
