How was the audience made to feel a part of this production?
The audience was moved to feel part of the production from the very beginning.The audience was made to believe that they them selves were on their way to see the king and that they them selves were subjects to the king. This was dun by having the king’s courtiers interact with the audience, prepping them to see the king. This lead to the audience having a part of the performance.

What effect did the breaking of the fourth wall have for the audience? Considering that this is a deliberate technique, what is the director’s intention?

Shadow Puppetry was used to enlarge the set. In one scene the Young King was represented as a shadow who was jumping around the walls to lengthen the journey between two points. The choice to do this resulted in some humour being incorporated into the story. This led to lightening of the otherwise dark and solemn story. Shadow Puppetry extended the reach of the actors as well as the story.

How was the serious message conveyed in an entertaining way? Consider the use of light and shade, (serious and comic) in your answer.
The story was very serious it contained allot of death and betrayal and yet at the end of the play you felt very happy and exited, but you still have received the meaning of the play. Through out the play many jokes were made to lighten the mood and to pull the audience away from feeling too depressed.

In tragic moments the lighting, sound and dialog was very well put together and presented. At the death of the purl diver the audience was deeply involved in the sad music, the lighting represented the mood and the dialog was deep and meaning full. This all led to a very deep and complex mood and feeling within the audience making the performance
