Prince Hamlet’s character in Act 3 scene 3, and 4 tells us much about him.
Hamlet's character seemed distant and disconnected at the beginning of Act 3. There are so much deception and spying in this play one should be careful.

As we read about Hamlet, we can witness that he is depressed dealing with the death of his father, the marriage of his mother to his uncle, makes Hamlet rethink the snake bite might be a lie. The uncle that took his crown and now his father’s ghost who tells him Claudius murder his father. Will he get avenge for his father’s death?
So now Hamlet begins to question his life is it worth the living “To be, or not to be?
That is the question”—Whether ’tis nobler in mind to suffer

It was smart, and ironic what Shakespeare did a play within a play as to show the deception of Hamlet's uncle. One reason Shakespeare gives Hamlet the gift of words so that he can use as weapons. When Hamlet puts together a play to trap his uncle Prince Hamlets sends an invitation to the King and the Queen to the play. The King gladly accepts the invite. Hamlet asks Horatio to spy and watch Claudius reaction during the play. When the King stood up and called for the lights to be turned on, he was infuriated.
