Shame is a topic that most would choose to hide and be ashamed of, but not people like Dick Gregory. In “Shame”, an excerpt from Gregory’s autobiography, he chose to talk about his experience with being shamed when he was a child. He took his experience and used it to help himself shape a better life. Some people will take their shame and turn it into a positive outlook, therefore helping them build themselves higher than they were at that moment. If a person embraces the source of their shame rather than constantly trying to suppress it, they can allow it to shape their future in a positive way. When someone is shamed, they can learn to embrace the reason why they were shamed and build themselves up from that. Gregory took his shameful experience
