Improvement Plan The improvement plan is intended to lead SRP closer to a team-based organization. The improvement plan consists of five main areas of improvement. The areas are; team charter, performance review, compensation, leadership style, ice breaker and team building exercise. It is composed with my current SharePoint team in mind. Team Charter A team charters will be composed in the beginning of each team’s formation. This charter will be used to identify team members as well as list each person’s role on the team. The team charter will identify what is expected of each team member, the team goal, and become the team’s road map. I believe the introductory ice breakers to be appropriate when introducing new team members. Also they are usually quick and fun. An example introductory ice breaker that the SharePoint team will use is the “Ball Challenge Web” (“Ice Breakers”, n.d.). The “Ball Challenge Web” is a prop game where you must utilize a beach ball or something similar to toss to team members. Everyone starts off by introducing themselves. Then they start passing the ball to other team members. The member passing the ball must say the name of the individual they are going to pass the ball to. Time this activity; stop the time when everyone has had a chance to pass the ball. Then repeat the activity, this time trying to improve the teams last time. Empowering leadership would help to soften the directive leadership structure by “encouraging independent action, opportunity thinking, and goal setting”, (Thompson, 2010, Pg. 274). Implement Changes The SharePoint team is responsible for SharePoint. Microsoft SharePoint is software that is great for team collaboration. Currently, the SharePoint team is great with promoting team information sharing through the use of the software. The team is currently lacking in knowledge transfer. To promote knowledge transfer, I would promote pairing. By providing mentors to the individuals who need it, will help improve the team’s productivity. The Abilene Paradox is the pitfall that I found most common within the SharePoint team. Company politics are strong, so the desire to avoid conflict and keep the status quo is high. I am guilty of this as well. In pondering the best methods for the team to avoid falling into the Abilene Paradox, I believe it beneficial to recommend “conducting a private vote” (Thompson, 2010, pg. 172) when an issue
